America needs a raise

Raise the minimum wage now!It is that simple.You can do it GOP just have some moral courage for a change.You just might like it.

Still no raise

The republicans in Congress still refuse to pass the min wage along with extending unemployment benefits.This action is not only mean and cruel but just plain pathetic!Gop the anti women,anti education,antigay,anti working people,and anti civil rights just to say the least.

The Equal Protection Clause

This clause means that a state does not have a right to vote on an individual rights.In other words a state does not have a right to vote to take a persons rights away.If that was the cases  African Americans would not have the right to vote in most southern states.Take that fascist GOP.

Marriage equality

We need a federal law that will make marriage equal in all 50 states.This is not a state issue. A state has no right to deny anyone a civil right.

Older White Americans

Now I have nothing against older Americans because I am one of them.I am a white male 62 years old.The problem I have is that many folks in this demographic cannot except that the the white population especially white males will soon be the minority.They still vote their stubborn conservative ways.Well forget it  no matter what you do your backward ways are OVER.Hopefully the baby boomer generation will be the progressive voice it once was in the 60s and 70s.

What if there was a war and nobody came

Yes the saying of the title of this blog was popular in the late 60s.The outrage was over the Vietnam war.Unlike the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan,the Vietnam war was not an all volunteer military.It most likely was the main reason why there was much protest.Of course the destruction of innocent live which always happens in war was also a big factor.As we know when the solders came home many were ridiculed and that was wrong and still should be wrong today.To compensate for Vietnam  the support out troops campaign has crossed political lines and divisions.Why do these young people enlist.Well if you look at the socio economic back grounds of our solders it is mostly due to economic reasons.Only a small division of the middle and upper middle class enlist and can you blame them.Here is my concern with the support the troops analogy.Yes any one who goes in harms way should be supported during and after their service.However in the beginning of the Iraq war a country which never had anything to do with 9/11 and who never posed a threat to the U.S.,So how was this fighting for freedom but rather for the ego of vicious president and his cronies.Now once the government of Iraq was overthrown it became a hot bed for Alqaeda,Iran and terrorism in general.Then yes the troops were fighting for our freedom.Do not get me wrong all the troops even in the beginning did what they were ordered to do and had no choice.They also deserve the same support as the troops who came later.Also troops who served tours of duty in Afghanistan was different because this was the country that supported and gave a haven to Alqaeda.It is tragic that the lower social economic groups in this country need to enlist in the military to gain the same benefits as the middle and upper middles classes.

Why Senator Kirk

Senator Mark Kirk R from Illinois is known as a moderate.His track record at times shows it.However Senator Kirk voted against extending unemployment benefits.This move takes away all the grace he has earned as moderate.This is emergency spending only for unemployed citizens who are looking for work.I t is time for Senator Kirk become less political and more like a statesman who cares about his constitutes.How about it Senator?

Expand Medicde Florida

Florida republicans refuse to do this.The  point because of their hatred for our president and the federal government as a whole. Because of this  hate several premature deaths will happen.This is legal murder.Florida republicans are WRONG and they no DAMN WELL.The party of hate and insurgency.Dictatorship and Facism is alive and well in Florida.

June Cleaver
